Top of the World

I know that these pictures are much belated! These are pics of Haley helping Pop drive the tractor @ Top of the World! It is one of her favorite things to do and she takes it very seriously...most of the time. There's also a pic of my sisters & I at my parents property too.

Pumpkin Patch

We went to a very cool pumpkin patch in Flower Mound - a little town North of us - with Wes & Missy. It was Haley's first Pumpkin Patch (I know I can't believe I haven't taken her to a pumpkin patch for 3 yrs.), as you can tell by the picture where I made her stand in the "My-First-Pumpkin-Patch" cauldron. FYI: All of the Mom's & Dad's were making their adorable little babies SIT in the cauldron, and you could barely see their heads:-) Haley did not think that she looked so adorable. Seriously, I could have waited till she was 13, then she would really be embarrased. She was also very excited about standing in Pocahontas's house (the teepee).

SUUUUPER Girl!!

For Halloween Haley got to be Super Girl! She was sooo excited! (Mommy made her costume) She got to wear it to the Fall Festival at school & she wore it ALL day on Halloween, all the way to Waco to visit Auntie Ashley.

First Day of School

Haley: Had a great first day! She did very well. Her teachers' names are Ms. Cheri & Ms. Marcie (both very sweet). She is in the Red Room and her class name is the Amazing Apples. She did have an incident on the playground with another kid (Haley was the one who was not sharing nicely) so she got in trouble :-( on the first day! She already has homework - she has to take in 3 things that describe her in a little paper bag and she will share them with the class on Thursday. She's taking: Her Bumblebee transformer, her Oregon Ducks t-shirt, and a little princess toy. I think those make a pretty accurate summary of Haley.

Jayme: AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! Hahahaha, my day was crazy, crazy, crazy! My assistant teacher and I were unprepared (we thought we were, but we were not). The age group is much younger than I had in mind and it's hard to wrangle 11 crying toddlers and try to keep them to a class schedule:-) So Debbie & I have re-assessed the situation and now have a better "plan of attack" for Thursday. However I do love all of the kids in my class & I can't wait for them all to get used to being with us 2-3 times a week.

Pictures: Haley & I first day of school, Haley first day of school, & Haley (crying because she DID NOT want to take a picture with Daddy) first day of school

The Day After the Storm

Hi All!
I just wanted to let everyone know that all things are good here after the storms. The "storm" that hit here was pretty uneventful (I was actually dissapointed), a lot of rain but nothing much else. The storm was really bad mostly on the coast, obviously, & in Houston, but we are far away from all of that. We actually went to Red Robin for lunch/dinner and to watch the Oregon Ducks game (they won WooHoo!) yesterday with friends, so we were fine to get out of the house...which I wasn't sure we'd be able to do with everything they were saying the storm was going to be. It was very mild though so no worries - no flooding, no blown over trees, no thunder & lightning. AZ storms are much more exciting:-) Anyways just wanted to give everyone the update just in case you were worried about us! I will post more soon!

Hurrican Ike

I am sure you are all wondering about Hurricane Ike getting ready to hit & people being evacuated from Texas:-) So far, so good here in Roanoke. We are 45 minutes from the border of Oklahoma so we are pretty far north. That means no evacuations for us. Today it's actually sunny, which is the first time in 4 days, but starting tomorrow (when Ike's supposed to hit) it's going to be storming like crazy. We are supposed to get 9-12 in. of rain, just tomorrow, so I'm sure it will be a pretty exciting storm. We haven't been told to worry about flooding or anything like that so hopefully we don't need to:-) I will try to keep you updated and I will also try to take pictures too to post!

Love you all! Hope these last posts updated you a little bit on our life:-) (Sorry there wasn't much about David - he's good, busy/stressed/trusting God with work:-), he really likes working with the Jr. High boys at church and has met some friends among the other leaders, tries to golf when he can, I will try to update you more soon)

Update on Jayme's Work Situation

It has been a lot of hurry-up and wait with the new church/school. Anyone who's ever dealt with construction knows that you never get in when you plan to. We were hoping to be moving into our classrooms the first weekend of October, but we still didn't have a certificate of occupancy for the building...and we just barely got our temporary one:-) So next Monday & Tuesday (the 15th & 16th), I finally get to start moving stuff into my classroom, WOOHOO!! I'm very excited to see what the classroom is like & what kind of stuff I have to use & work with. I have not seen anything yet & Meet the Teacher is next Thursday (the 18th). My assistant teacher & I are going to have a lot to get done in 2 days. I am very excited though & have a ton of ideas for our classroom.
Our first day of school will be the 23rd, which means that is Haley's first day of school as well. She's excited but I don't think she quite gets it:-) She'll learn soon enough that the first day of school is a BIG DEAL!

Home Again, Home Again

Well, we've been back home now for a couple weeks. We loved visiting everyone in AZ, but Haley & I were both exhausted...it took us a few days to recuperate. The week we were there was wonderful, it was great to see everyone and Haley LOVED getting to see her family. We got to see the progress on Top of the World (which is amazing), and I can't wait to go up to visit as soon as it's all finished. Hopefully I will get pictures soon from my mom to post:-)

Most Recent Update

Well the newest news...
David passed his CFA Level 1!!!! Hooray!!
I (Jayme) got a new job working @ the New Creation Preschool through our church!
Haley will be starting preschool!
We are living in a very cute 2 bedroom apartment.
We are library junkies - Haley & I go to the library in our town @ least twice a week!
David loves his job! It's very self-motivated & of course David is VERY self-motivated:-)
David & I are small group leaders for Jr. High kids @ our church, & I volunteer with kids check-in.
I've also been attending a Women's Bible Study on Tuesday nights, where I met a great group of girls that I really get along with!
We've been going to the Roanoke Rec Center gym...Haley loves playing in the childcare while David & I workout.
We miss all of you guys & we can't wait to visit!

Haley's New Bike

With some of Haley's birthday money when we got to Texas we were able to buy her a new bike & a new helmet! She loves them both & she loves to ride whenever we get a chance (she hasn't gotten too many since we moved to our apartment, but while we lived at Wes's she got to ride a lot)

The Many Faces of Haley

Well "ya'll", haha, Haley has had a LOT of fun dressing up since we've been here. She of course has always loved Spiderman...Wes's nephews had a Spiderman mask:-) Her newest obsession has been Transformers...Wes's nephews had an Optimus Prime mask (it even transformed your voice into a robot voice). In our new apartment she has been dressing up like a cowboy (this means putting on every scarf, bandana, headband, bathing suit, etc. that she can find) & of course a cowboy needs a hat, she thinks hers is like Pop's, although hers is pink and floppy. If you notice, she has her Dora baseball bat in a holster:-) I swear if she had a pout on her face, she would look like "Head Princess"

Fun in TX

While we lived @ Weslee's house we got to go to the park down the street a lot:-) Haley's favorite think to do was swing. She didn't care about all of the running around if David was willing to keep pushing she would stay in that swing all day! The community pool was right next to the park and we went to the pool with Missy every-once-in-a-while. Hopefully you can get an idea of our neighborhood by some of these pictures!

4th of July

Well for 4th of July (I know this post is over a month late), we went to KaBoom Town in Addison, TX. It was free & we got to bring our own ice chest with whatever we wanted:-) They had live music, acrobatic airplanes, tons of food & fun obstacle courses for Haley to try. This was Haley's first time seeing fireworks in real life so we weren't sure how she would react. She did ok though, she sat on David's lap the whole time, refusing to allow him to take his arms from around her. He tried to hold my hand but she was not havin' it. She started to get used to it by the end of the show & was telling us the colors of all of the fireworks. We went with Weslee & his fiancee Missy, David's boss Ryan & his wife Jenny, and another guy that David & Wes work with Joey & his wife Teresa. It was a lot of fun!

Swimming Lessons

Haley started swimming lessons this past Monday... I was VERY stressed out about it (weird, I know). Haley loves it! She is doing really well, learning to "paddle, paddle, paddle," and how to "kick, kick, kick." She's gotten better at blowing bubbles too. The one thing that she does not like, is when the other kids kick and splash her.
We go Mon. - Thurs., only for a couple of weeks, so we will be done the end of next week. Weslee's fiance Missy has been going with us every morning which has been good for us to hang out and get to know eachother a little bit better too. I will try to get pictures up soon so you can all see Haley:-)
